- When are check-in and check-out?
- Check-in is after 4:00 pm and check-out is by 10:00 am. It's self check-in, so there's no key handoff to coordinate — arrive when it suits you. If you need to arrive early or leave late, ask the owner — no promises, but it never hurts to ask.
- Where do we park?
- Parking is free on the premises, with room for a maximum of two vehicles. More than two needs prior arrangement with the owner, and boats and trailers aren't permitted.
- Are pets allowed?
- No — The Perch is pet-free.
- Is smoking allowed?
- No — The Perch is smoke-free. Events aren't permitted either: it's a great house for a family holiday, not the venue for a party.
- What are the quiet hours?
- Quiet hours are 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. The Perch is in a residential West Fernie neighbourhood, and good neighbours keep the powder karma flowing.
- Where do I store skis, boards and bikes?
- The Perch has a heated garage for gear, so boots dry overnight and bikes stay out of the weather. Shoes and sports equipment stay out of the house — the garage is the mudroom, and it's a warm one.
- What is the cancellation policy?
Standard policy (all stays except Holiday Season)
- Full refund for cancellations 30 or more days before check-in.
- Booked within 30 days of check-in? Full refund if you cancel within 48 hours of booking and at least 14 days before check-in.
- 50% refund for cancellations between 14 and 30 days before check-in.
- No refund for cancellations within 14 days of check-in.
Holiday Season (stays including any night from December 18 to January 2)
- Full refund if cancelled within 48 hours of booking, provided check-in is at least 14 days away.
- 50% refund for cancellations 30 or more days before check-in.
- No refund for cancellations within 30 days of check-in.
- Why book direct instead of through Airbnb or VRBO?
- Booking direct means no platform guest service fee and a direct line to the owner for questions before and during your stay. The Perch is a licensed Fernie short-term rental (business license #002003), listed and managed by the owner.
- How do I get to Fernie?
- Fernie is on Highway 3 in BC's Elk Valley, about 3.5 hours' drive from Calgary (YYC). The closest airport is Canadian Rockies International in Cranbrook (YXC), about 1 hour 15 minutes away; Kalispell, Montana (FCA) is roughly 2 hours. In winter, drive on proper snow tires.
